my hope is found.

This song. Time and time again, when I've been hurting. When I've been lost. When I'm sad. I turn it on, and it helps heal my heart. It's a balm to the wounded soul. This is the song. This is my anthem.

In Christ alone, my hope is found

He is my light, my strength, my song

This cornerstone, this solid ground

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease

My comforter, my all-in-all

Here in the love of Christ I stand

There in the ground His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain

Then bursting forth in glorious day

Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory

Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me

From life’s first cry to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man

Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand

It's good to know that Jesus never fails.

  1. I'm not normally one for overly Christian music, but this is lovely.

Thank you for the happy feels :)

    1. Aw, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I relate as well. Some Christian music really gets on my nerves, for reasons too numerous to list here. But I love songs like these, that cut past all the meaningless religion and extra "fluff", that state the simple truth of God's love, and truly reach the core of who I am and who God is. Those are the songs that really touch my heart.

It was my absolute pleasure; thank you for stopping by.

  2. Ahh I love this song, it is definitely one of my favourite hymns! Getty, yes?

    1. Mmhmm! At least, I believe the song was written by Getty. Owl City's version is a cover, and it's probably my favorite version, though I certainly don't mind others. I particularly love the lyrics, so other versions are a-okay by me, but Owl City placed a beautiful spin on it that I can't find anywhere else.

Ah, here we go. Wikipedia states that it was written by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend. :)

Thank you so much for the comment! ♥

    1. Indeed I have! And you are correct, I do like it! I was practically raised with that song; I remember singing it and listening to it with my mom many times. I haven't heard it in a while but I still do love it. It's beautiful.

  5. Oh! Sky! I have to agree that this song has helped me so many times.

I think it was last month that I was really struggling with some internal stuff.
I went out to the barn to feed my animal and started singing hymns. This one came to mind and as I sang it I just overflowed with joy and tears. It is so powerful.

    1. Ellyn! Thank you for commenting, it really did make my day.

I love that story. ♥ Thank you for being open and willing to share it with me! My favorite part is that it took place in a barn. It reminds me that God often speaks in the humblest and most vulnerable of places. That strikes me as quite symbolic.

I too struggle with lots of internal stuff, especially lately, and so this song has really helped speak to me and heal my heart. It's beautiful, and, like you said, so powerful. I love it.

  8. I feel the exact same way about this song. I'm constantly playing it over and over when I'm struggling through something. And it never seems to fail to get me teary-eyed. It's so beautiful with such powerful lyrics.

    "My Comforter, my All-in-all
." Jesus truly is.

    1. Ditto, ditto, ditto. The teary-eyed part especially. This blog post was written about a month ago, but I decided to publish it after a pretty rough day. I just sat there, listening to In Christ Alone, and let the words rush over me, and then slightly edited & published this blog post. It was truly beautiful.

Yes. Yes, He is. ♥ Thank you for reminding me of that fact.

By the way, I got your email! Thank you so, so much. I truly appreciate it! I'll try to respond asap.

  10. I love this song. It's great. And I have a question: is Owl City a Christian band? I wasn't aware of them.
I just nominated you for two awards:

    1. Oh yes, I'm glad you asked! Owl City, while not under a Christian label, is a Christian, and writes lyrics with Christian influences. Similar to bands like Switchfoot and U2. His name is Adam Young, though he performs under the stage name Owl City.

He's one of my absolute favorite artists, so let me know if you have any more questions, since I love educating people about him & spreading the word about his music. And here's the link to his Wikipedia article, if you're interested.

Thank you for the award! :D
